A native of Iowa, Heather J. Paper graduated from Iowa State University with a double major in Interior Design and Journalism. She launched her career with Meredith Corporation—writing and editing various publications, including Better Homes & Gardens and Traditional Home—before pursuing a freelance career that has included penning articles, books, and brochures for corporate clients such as Kohler, Home Depot, Sherwin-Williams, Dupont Corian, and Lowe’s. Additionally, she authored The All New Decorating Idea Book, Decorating Ideas that Work, The New Kitchen Idea Book, All New Kitchen Ideas That Work, and Built-Ins Idea Book for the Taunton Press, and co-wrote Quintessential Kitchens by Matthew Quinn: Volume One.
Writer- In Their Words
Mysty McLelland is a writer, editor, and brand communication professional. Prior to working independently, Mysty spent more than twenty years at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC) as its vice president and general manager where she was responsible for elevating and managing the design center’s prestigious brand. Described by Atlanta Magazine as an indisputable force in the interior design community and named as one of the magazine’s Arbiters of Style, Mysty has worked with many of the design industry’s most celebrated professionals for over 25 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and a master's degree in communication.
Mali Azima work is centered around feelings. She knows her camera is framed right when she looks through the lens and feels intimate with the subject. She wants the viewer to feel like they are in the room, or next to the person. Her gift is in capturing the essence of beauty in the moment. Mali Azima won the grand prize in a photo contest judged by Kodak and American Photo with her photograph of the personality of a flower. Her commercial work is seen in advertising for high style firms and her editorial work is featured in many coffee table books and magazines about great design and entertaining.
Emily Jenkins Followill
A native of Atlanta, Emily’s love for photography began at an early age, and through her education and professional path, she has continued to tell her story with beautiful, balanced photographs and a natural quality of light. From residential interiors to gardens, product to lifestyle and portraits, she demonstrates a passion and an eye for simple beauty in the most complex settings. Emily’s work is recognized in national and international publications, including Veranda, House Beautiful, Milieu, Luxe, Traditional Home, Southern Living, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, Interior Design, Garden and Gun, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and many others. *Additionally, Emily has published a book of her own photography, The Southern Rustic Cabin, and has collaborated with many designers and architects to create photographs for their books and publications. Emily enjoys balancing her career with her most important treasures: her husband, Tom, and children, Sarah and Thomas.
In pursuit of a joint creative lifestyle, husband and wife Robert and Tiffany Peterson taught themselves photography. Learning from each other’s natural strengths and weaknesses, they became masters at the craft, capturing striking moments around the world. With his love for visual storytelling and background as a film editor, Robert found himself specializing in the world of interiors and travel photography. His clients have included House Beautiful, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Domino, Home Depot and HGTV.
Colleen is a Columbus, OH based professional with more than a decade of experience in book design. She has worked with leading national publishers across categories including cooking, career, health, and humor. After joining the team on Quintessential Kitchens by Matthew Quinn: Volume One, Colleen was thrilled to be asked to design the layout for Volume Two. When she’s not in front of her computer – agonizing over leading, kerning, and the like – Colleen can be found teaching yoga or spending time outdoors with her pup, Zulu.
With a degree in Interior Design and background in visual display, Yvonne Orchard experienced a natural segue into her position as senior photo stylist and studio manager with Ballard Designs. She made an effortless transition into her freelance career, working with many familiar luxury brands, as well as top residential and commercial clients and designers. They include InterfaceFLOR, Marriott Renaissance and Moxy Hotels, Bloomingdale’s, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Magazine and Atlanta Magazine Home. With 20+ years in the industry, her most recent foray into residential and hospitality interior design began with accessorizing The Edwin Boutique Hotel in Chattanooga. Yvonne has an inherent ability to draw on her personal travel experiences to countries such as Morocco, Turkey, England and France to create spaces that are both creative and inspiring.
Book Project Director
Rachel is the Director of Marketing for Design Galleria Kitchen and Bath Studio and Matthew Quinn Collection and Matthew Quinn brand. Since 2005, she has directed brand development, marketing, advertisement design, editorial, photography, and web design for the companies. Her role in the Matthew Quinn brand includes establishing manufacturing partnerships, co-branding development, and launching new products and new distribution channels. In 2015 she directed the production of Quintessential Kitchens by Matthew Quinn, Volume One. Away from the office, Rachel cherishes every moment with her husband and seven-year-old son.
Originally from Minnesota, Michele is a transplanted Southerner. She holds a B.A. in Journalism. and a B.S. in Interior Design and spent most of her design career in sales and management for an established fabric house. Moving from fabric to hardware, she has become an integral member of the Matthew Quinn collection showroom. Michele joined the Quintessential Kitchen book team for the Second Volume as a Co-Editor, bringing a wealth of knowledge from her career in the design industry.

Specializing in portraits, interiors, and lifestyle, Mali Azima is an Atlanta-based photographer whose work can be seen in a variety of local and national publications. Her clients include Neiman Marcus the Book, Bloomingdale’s, Veranda, House Beautiful, Travel & Leisure, Self, GQ, Southern Accents, Metropolitan Home, Town & Country, Lucky, Elle, Allure, Cottage Living, Country Living, and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. Her photos have also been featured in many coffee table books about design and entertaining. Mali was the proud recipient of the grand prize in Kodak’s Colors of Life photo contest, judged by Kodak and American Photo Magazine. Her artwork—centered on nature and its subtly felt energy—is sold through Bradley Showrooms.
Colleen Cain is an enthusiastic designer with a decade of professional experience in book layout. With a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication from Ohio University, she moved to Oakland, California, where she worked for leading national publishers on projects across several categories including cooking, career, health, and humor. Colleen is also a registered yoga teacher, and combines her love for the two fields by designing logo suites and marketing collateral for other yoga teachers and studios. Colleen recently relocated to her hometown of Columbus, Ohio, where she lives with her dog Zulu.
Interior Style and Art Director
Eleanor Roper is currently Editor-at-Large for Traditional Home Magazine, and has produced interior features for the publication as well as House Beautiful, House & Garden, Décor, Elegant Homes, Southern Accents, Country Homes, and Southern Living magazines. Her tenure at Condé Nast Publications in New York, New York, included working for Vogue, Vanity Fair, and House & Garden magazines. As a freelancer, Eleanor has canvased the globe with an eye for interior style, architecture, and design. Her passion for the mix of natural materials, coupled with an eye for detail, lends itself to a signature style that is poetic and harmonious while rendering a perspective that is luxuriously minimal.

Book Project Director
As Director of Marketing for Design Galleria Kitchen and Bath Studio and Matthew Quinn Collection, Rachel has been part of the team since 2005. She directs brand development, marketing, ad design, editorial placement, photography, web design, and other collateral. Her work has been seen in Veranda, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Atlanta Magazine Home, Interiors, and on multiple manufacturing partner websites and collateral pieces. Rachel's role in the Matthew Quinn brand includes establishing manufacturing partnerships, directing co-branding, and launching new products and new distribution channels.
